1725 The fundraiser continues
A note from Richard Mackie
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Readers of The British Columbia Review:
In the last few days we have resumed the fundraiser we started on December 12, 2022, which we put aside while we posted 43 reviews for the Christmas book-buying rush. Thank you, everyone, for your donations and your continued support, and special thanks to the donors who drew my attention in the last 24 hours to a problem with the donation page. It has now been fixed.
Once again we need the continued help of the larger community of contributors and readers of the BC Review. We have to raise $25,000 this year to pay honoraria — we offer $100 per review — to reviewers to support and promote BC writing and ensure the vitality of our corner of the arts and culture sector in British Columbia. Any amount you can donate would be incredibly helpful at this time.
While we acknowledge the generous support of grants from Creative BC and the Canada Book Fund, we also need to pay our book reviewers. Last year we paid $24,000 in $100 (optional) honoraria to reviewers. We posted 348 reviews in 2022.
I’ve spent the last few days writing to friends and readers of the BC Review and inviting them to show their support financially. Please consider making a donation by PayPal, Interac e-transfer, or cheque through our secure donate button on our website.
Cheques made out to the Ormsby Literary Society may also be sent to:
Ormsby Literary Society

Vancouver, BC

We can send you a receipt, but it won’t be tax deductible because we are a society, not a charity.
Finally, may I also invite you to join the 500+ people who subscribe to The British Columbia Review? Sign up here to receive an email with every third post. There is no cost to this.
Thank you for supporting The British Columbia Review.
Yours sincerely,
Richard Mackie
